day 3

what i did today:

1. spent most of the morning in bed... my partners teeth were bleeding profusely last night so we went to the hospital to check on his stitches and we didn't get home until midnight. not to worry he is fine...

when i did get enough energy to get up out of bed i finished sewing my skirt. i don't think i did that badly considering i didn't have a pattern to work from and made things up along the way. now that i have the right measurements i will be making a black pair to wear out and about. i am enjoying making things immensely and the best part is that it keeps me occupied ...

2. wore my black singlet and skirt from target...

3. eager to start on my black skirt, i drove to spotlight to grab my supplies. no doubt i will be starting on this project tomorrow some time. :)

4. went to the shops and bought this top/dress from supre... they are having a sale and i couldn't resist this bargain...

5. now at home with a cup of tea and watching a movie with my partner... 15 minutes into it and there is very little about this movie that is keeping me interested... hummm... might surf youtube.

day 2

what i did today:

1. wore one of my partners unwanted shirt that i made into a dress, wrist band from just jeans.

2. bought the next book from the twilight series, a little boring so far....

3. went out to lunch with my partner

3. drove my partner to the dentist.... poor guy had both of his wisdom teeth taken out.

i waited in the car due to the fact that i hate the dentists... it was raining...

i wasn't alone....

4. went home and made a bow necklace like the one by lovehearts designs....this is the back view...

here is the front.... its a little big...

will post a tutorial when i get the dimensions and materials exactly right... :)

until then xoxoxo

bonding time....

what i did today:
1. wore my shorts from ice, scarf from dotti, glasses from fiorelli and singlet from colorado.
2. for a while now mum has been making these overall type outfits, and i had asked her if she could show me how. so we both went to spotlight (yahoo! two days in a row), and picked up some material and little buttons.
it was a great day, i hardly get the chance to just hang out with my mum and it felt really special. i think she loved the fact that she could pass something on to me and have that mother daughter bonding time. we talked and laughed and reminisced about when i was growing up.

six hours later, we were having such a great day that we lost track of time. anyway, here is what we came up with. keep in mind this was just a trial run to get the pattern and to quickly show me how its done so there were a couple of mistakes here and there.
it isn't entirely finished either, i have yet to hem the bottom and place maybe another button or two for embellishment and then its done. in the long run i hope to maybe make the same thing but as a dress instead.

3. on the way home i was parked near a 'wicked camper' van and on it was this delightful message....
until next time xoxox

my brown shoes...

what i did today:

1. wore my new yellow dress and belt from 'sportsgirl' 07.

2. met up with emma http://thisragdollsriches.blogspot.com/ and she drove me to a craft store called spotlight. there were so many cute buttons, ribbons and fabrics to chose from i felt like a little kid in a candy store. you could definitely spend a whole day in there just finding inspiration and ideas for things to do.

emma and i spent most of the time looking at patterns for dresses. there were some i found hideous, but the ones from the 'vogue' catalogue had really nice vintage patterns. i was unable to find a pattern for the skirt that i had in mind so instead i have decided to design it myself with the guidance of this site.
being a trial run, i picked up the cheapest but cutest material i could find.

while i was there i also bought a memory box in the hopes of finding a way to display this little fairy figurine that my partner hand painted for me. unfortunately the box is too small, but I'm sure that i will be able to find a good use for it.
3. found my brown shoes!!! they were on special from 'betts' by 'airflex'. (yeah i know they sound like something an old lady would buy, but by god are they comfortable.) the only downside is that i feel in time they will loosen up too much. nevertheless, i love them and they were on sale which is an extra bonus.

4. found this cute ring from 'bardot'. unluckily i had it on today and with an arm full of groceries i accidentally scraped it on my door and now some of the paint has come off. :( never mind, it adds to the character.

5. while surfing the net for skirt tutorials, i had stumbled upon this great video. i love the buttons and i feel that it is something i can definitely make.

enjoy and be inspired! xoxox

mums birth day

what i did today:

1. scanned some old photos that my mum had of her sisters. this is by far my favourite out of all of them. it is a photo of my aunt taken in the 50s. i love what she is wearing and i will not rest until i find a seamstress that can make me a replica.

2.had the chance to break in my new shoes from novo. don't usually wear high heals and now i remember why. as much as i love these, i think i shall save them for times where minimal walking is involved.

i also had a chance to finally wear my new 'bardot' dress picked up during the end of the year sale, $120 down to $40. http://www.bardot.net.au/store/

3.had lunch with mum to celebrate hers and my birthday. (her birthday is officially on the 1st of january mine is on the 2nd). she received from me a top with a necklace to match as well as a straw hat from my partner.

4. my mum bought for me a pair of lovely shoes by 'london rebel' and some cool black braces. http://www.londonrebel.co.uk/

will definitely post some updates on what is to be a quiet new years eve and more on my birthday celebrations. until then... have a happy new year everyone!!!! xoxoxo

what to wear?

yesterday i:

1. finished off my curtains and hung them up... cute huh...

2. spent time with my partners parents on the beach. must admit i am not a water baby and i hate the sun, but i had fun on the day and found some nice sea shells.

3. spoke to my friend and she asked a very good question... 'what will i be wearing on my upcoming birthday dinner?' i have narrowed it down to the following 3. (you may need to click on the image to enlarge and see the detail on each dress...)

1. by 'valley girl'. http://www.valleygirl.com.au/landing.html

2. by 'bardot'. http://www.bardot.net.au/store/

3. by 'fate'. http://www.fateclothing.com.au/

which one do you think i should wear?

what i did monday:

2. found some material for my table cloth and kitchen curtains as well as some vintage doilies for $1 each

3.realised that i was still in love with this old thrift shop top i found three years ago... i love the detailed buttons...
